Retro Modern
I purchased tortoise pickguard material from 5 different suppliers and I should have just bought from Warmoth in the first place. Their's is my favorite. I would describe the look as Retro Modern (IMO). Retro in the 3-ply layers, but a little "modern" in the overall "brown" look. The pictures on the website are very accurate. (Look through the in-stock bodies in the showcases and the pick guard "examples".) The brown is prominent and nicely dark. The "red" isn't dominating. The yellow is a nice golden color (not cheddar orange). The "white" 3-ply is also closer to parchment IMO (which is true to vintage). It's not a "perfect vintage" because it lacks a little bit of the 3D translucency seen in old tortoise pickguards, BUT I prefer the nice BROWN look of this rather than the reddish look of most true-vintage. And most people won't ever look close enough to appreciate the 3D look anyways. Brown matches better with more colors rather than the red hue and THAT is what people will notice.
