Garett Wolfe's Guitar

Guitar 2: A 7S body and Super-7 neck were the basis for the second project.

BODY:

From Warmoth: 7S body, swamp ash with quilted maple top. Recess routed Floyd-Rose, and dual humbuckers.

Custom work: For this guitar, a masking technique was used to create a "faux pickguard" look. The tribal design was sketched out to fit the basic outline of a pick guard and lacquer was sprayed so that subsequent staining would not soak into the wood. The rest of the body was then stained, black on the back and a green 3D on the front. When cleared and sanded, the look was flawless and the desired effect achieved with great satisfaction. Pictures simply can not do justice.

NECK:

From Warmoth: Super-7 neck with Warmoth headstock, quilted maple veneer, ebony fingerboard with no face dots, gold fretwire, and standard thin profile.

Custom work: Headstock was finished in similar manner to body and cleared coated. A brass name plaque was inlaid at the 12th fret. The 17th-24th frets were scalloped on an angle, descending in height. This not only helps playability, but also provided a unique visual subtlety.

HARDWARE:

Double-locking Floyd-Rose style floating tremolo, Schaller mini locking tuners, Dimarzio Blaze-7 pickups, and Ernieball strings.

General notes: All setup and wiring was done by the builders in an effort to achieve ideal playability based on each player's standards, style, and taste.
