Dyes are used because they add three- dimensional depth to the wood as well as
vibrant color. Dyes are rubbed directly onto the wood where their absorption
varies with the grain figure.
Dyed pieces look distinctively more "alive" than
transparent colors. We only offer dye colors on figured western maple.
Since our dyed finishes are always done on laminate top bodies it is necessary to have a demarcation
line between the dyed top and the body core. We offer a few different options for how this is done:

STANDARD BURST-OVER
By default, we blend the back color at the edge with a small burstover. This is done with both black and transparent color backs.

Clean Line $55 Extra

CLEAN LINE OPTION
This option must be chosen if the back finish is clear, although it creates a dramatic look with a black back as well.
This masked edge finish is more time-consuming to accomplish and is $55 extra.

CUSTOM BURST-OVER OPTION
By special request, we can sometimes to a wider or narrower bursted edge. If you have specific requirements please talk to us about
them. The usual cost for this sort of thing is $45 extra.
