This is a revolutionary string nut developed by Earvana. The patented technology is uniquely designed to improve the sound of your guitar. You have probably noticed that it is nearly impossible to tune your guitar so that all of the chords in the first 5 frets ring true and in tune. Earvana has solved this problem by developing a nut that compensates for the tuning errors that are inherent in 99% of all stringed instruments.

There is a Difference
I bought this for a project I was building. The neck is Leopard wood with a quilted maple fret board, gold frets. I bought the 1 3/4" un-slotted ivory color.

I first cut and filed the slots roughly where I wanted them to be. I set the intonation according to the instructions and gave it a try. At first, I could definitely tell that the 2nd through 5th fret notes and chords sounded incredible. Unfortunately, when I started playing around with a capo on the first and second frets, the tuning was off. Even "adjusting" the capo didn't seem to work. After filing the nut slots a little deeper and fine tuning the nut to the exact height using gauges, the capo problem is now a non issue. The guitar stays in tune and the chords sound great !
I was always a believer that the nut slot filing had a lot to do with sharp notes on the first few frets, and still believe that to be true. However, I believe the Earvana nut definitely improves the tuning once it is "dialed" in correctly.
