Application
Like a higher output '59 Model with a deeper bottom end and expanded output. Perfect for pop, country, blues, classic rock and heavy rock.

Description
Developed by contributors to our web user group who replaced the ceramic or Alnico 2 magnet in an SH-5 Custom or SH-11 Custom Custom with an Alnico 5. Compared to the SH-5 and SH-11, the Custom 5's tone is more vintage, with less distortion, but it's still very strong and powerful. Clean sounds are rich and full with enhanced presence. Comes with four-conductor hookup cable.

Complete setup
Recommended for bridge position. Often a Custom 5 is paired with a '59 for real-deal P.A.F. tones in the neck.

Guitars
For balanced and warm instruments. Works especially well with rosewood fingerboards.

Available mods Nickel or gold-plated cover. Trembucker string spacing available.

Players Paul Stanley / KISS, Troy VanLeeuwenQueens of the Stone Age, Bruce Kulick / Grand Funk Railroad & Union

Like it a lot - perfect in a warm LP
I like this pickup a lot because I tried it in my LP after using the regular Custom (ceramic magnet) and it was like a blanket was lifted off of my amps. It was a huge improvement over the Custom. I could get AC/DC type sounds and heavier. In a bright guitar this might be too bright. I'd recommend 250k volume pots instead of 500k for this type of pickup if it's too bright. In my all mahogany LP it was perfect. It's a hot pickup but still gives you classic rock tones, and it does it better than the Custom in my opinion.

And of course this pickup is a magnet swapper's dream. It sounds good with any kind of magnet.

good bridge position pickup
This pickup has lots of bite. I find I like to roll down the tone knob when I use it. This is not my favorite pickup ever... the cleans are a little lackluster. But crank up the distortion and this is a really nice pickup!
