These two pickups are not interchangeable, the rear pickup is wider than the neck pickup to accommodate the wider string spacing near the bridge.

70s Bridge Pickup Reposition Option

With our 70's Jbass pickup reposition, we relocate the bridge pickup rout approximately 3/8" closer to the bridge. This increases the mid-range tone and the plucking punch for an accentuated percussive sound. Very nice for Jaco styles and advanced progressive style players.

Dark Star DS-3 "Universal Rout"
1.82" (46.23mm) X 3.125" (79.38mm). Neck, bridge or "Sweet Spot" positions. This is a custom rout and carries a $45 surcharge.

5-String Pickup Routing Options
The stock pickup configuration on genuine Fender® Deluxe 5 bodies is for two J. Bass® appearing pickups. These are actually odd sized pickups, the front being 4" wide and the rear 4-1/8th". Accommodates Seymour Duncan basslines SJ5 67/70 and SJ53.

Standard J. Bass® size routes - this will work with some bar magnet type pickups. Be sure that the string sensing width is compatible with the Deluxe string spread. Fits standard SJB5 and AJB5.

Looks stock, however both pickup routs are for the wider bridge style pickup to accommodate pickups such as Basslines SJ5 70/74 & DiMarzio Ultra Jazz 5.

Specify neck pickup width. Bridge pickup is Music Man Bass pickup such as Basslines SMD 5 located in the usual "Sweet Spot" MM position.
Single Music Man pickup in the usual "Sweet Spot" MM position. 5 string without dog ears
32mm length x 108mm width. Soap bar size rout. For pickups such as Basslines ASB-5 or Bartolini P2. May be done single or double.
38mm length x 102mm width. Soap bar size rout. For EMG-40, Basslines ASB2-5, or Bartolini M4. May be done single or double.
